Tesla owners already enjoy many things that other drivers can only dream of. Not having to visit a gas station is only one of them. The electric carmaker has also introduced a suite of features that owners can access via their car’s built-in display when it is parked.

Tesla Theater is one of these bonuses. It lets drivers and passengers enjoy their favorite content from streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube while their Tesla is parked. For example, they can enjoy an episode of their favorite show while recharging their car at a Supercharger.

Now, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, drivers will soon be able to enjoy Disney+ in their car. Though there isn’t a timeline beyond “coming soon,” the news is exciting for Tesla owners and Disney fans.

Tesla Theater Mode

When Musk’s electric car company rolled out Theater Mode as part of its Version 10.0 update it instantly became a hit with fans. Originally, the built-in display found in Teslas could only control the car’s functions. Now, it can do an array of different things including letting owners watch TV and play games.

The latter is thanks to another feature called Tesla Arcade. That mode includes a limited version of the popular title “Cuphead” for parked drivers to play with a USB gamepad.

However, Theater Mode is by far the most-loved addition. While charging a Tesla is a lot cheaper than going to the gas station, waiting 30 to 60 minutes for it to reach capacity can be a drag. Now, drivers can just turn on an episode of their favorite show to pass the time. Soon, that show could be “The Mandalorian.”

Musk recently replied to a user on Twitter who requested for Tesla to add Disney+ to Theater Mode.

The addition would come as no surprise. Disney+ has already accumulated more than 20 million subscribers in about a month and a half since its November launch. With timeless classics and brand-new hits, it is clear that Disney+ is the streaming service with the most hype heading into 2019. If there’s one thing Tesla knows how to capitalize on, it’s excitement.

Tesla’s Holiday Update

The news of Disney+ eventually being added to Teslas comes just after the carmaker released its feature-packed holiday update this week. It includes a preview of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Mode among several other features.

One of these is Camping Mode. It allows drivers to run the climate control system, lights, and even play music for long periods of time while the car is in park. In addition to streaming and gaming, it could provide a nice alternative to renting a hotel room during a road trip.

Of course, the upcoming Cybertruck is even more geared towards Camp Mode and will come with an optional camping package that turns its bed into a makeshift camper.

Typically, when Musk makes a promise, it doesn’t take long for it to become reality. As such, Telsa owners can safely expect a Disney+ integration within the first half of 2020.
