LG debuted a roll-up TV at CES last year. The revamped 2019 Signature model boasts a beefy, built-in 100-watt Dolby Atmos speaker, which is geared to provide exceptional sound. Plus, a new sophisticated base houses the TV in a slick hidden compartment at the push of button. Color us amazed. We can’t help but be psyched.
Rollaway Convenience = Décor Dream
TVs have been a hot home electronics commodity for decades. Over time, they’ve gotten a space-saving, slim-line facelift. While a multi-tasking Smart flat screen might take up less real estate than its prehistoric picture tube-bearing predecessor, we might not always want to look at a massive black rectangle. LG has considered this concern and presents a jaw-dropping, aesthetically-pleasing solution.
The 65-inch OLED TV R is virtually a now you see it, now you don’t TV. You can actually roll it away when you’re not using it—like rolling up a sleeping bag or yoga mat. Just press a button and voilà—the big black rectangle slowly sinks inside the base and it doesn’t have to come out again until you want it to.
Anyone with a small living room can appreciate this convenient, hideaway feature. The space opens around the base, which maximizes interior sight lines and gives rooms of any shape and size a totally different feel. It also moves TV placement options away from the wall and offers alternative viewing angles.
Optional Mood Enhancers and Other Details
With a partial screen raise in “Line View,” you can catch some nice day-launching details like the local date, time, and weather forecast. You can also stream songs, display your favorite photos, and even play mood-enhancing sound effects like rain. Simply press a button to fully raise the screen when you’re ready to watch a show.
Dazzling Display and AI Integration
LG’s Signature OLED TV R boasts a brilliant, state-of-the-art display. It features LG’s Perfect Black paired with Dolby Vision, powered by the A9 Gen 2 Intelligent Processor and deep learning AI algorithm to deliver unparalleled image quality.
As a cutting-edge entertainment hub, the OLED TV R uses LG ThinQ and built-in Google Assistant or Alexa to offer convenient voice control. Just speak your commands and the TV will comply. Tell it to roll up or down, adjust the display, and more. The exciting new model will also feature Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support for streaming from iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
Pricing TBD and TV Coming Soon
A price is still TBD for this modern TV marvel. Some models of the 4K OLED series range from $2,600 up to $8,000 and more. With groundbreaking innovation like a roll-up display, the LG Signature OLED TV R is expected to retail for a premium. A firm market date remains to be set, with LG noting “Coming Soon” on their website.
