NXP Semiconductors recently announced its latest collaboration with smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, the PonPon Tile 2.0 stickers. The near field communication (NFC) powered solution makes smart home living simpler and easier.

The product is now available in China via Xiaomi’s physical and online stores, and distribution to other regions is forthcoming.

Details on the PonPon Tile 2.0 Stickers

While the technology was once the domain of science fiction, smart homes have become increasingly common in recent years. The proliferation of broadband internet and the advancement of connected device design is expected to push the market’s value from $55.65 million in 2016 to $174.24 million by 2025.

Products like NXP and Xiaomi’s PonPon Tile 2.0 Stickers will play a key role in facilitating that expansion.

Although smart home tech has made great leaps in recent years, it is still experiencing some growing pains. For instance, smart speakers permit residents to control the functions of the online-enabled domiciles with their voices. But range limitations and a lack of interface sophistication can make contemporary connected living space platforms difficult to use.

The new version of the PonPon NFC stickers directly solves the problem with an easy to use and multifaceted solution.

To start, users attach one of the stickers to a Xiaomi Mi smart home product, such as a connected TV, door lock, or lighting setup. Consumers can then pair the tile to their NFC-enabled Xiaomi handset through the Mijia/Mi Home app. After a few clicks, operators will have remote control of their digital living space devices.

The PonPon stickers give parents the ability to check in on their homebound children while on the go. The tool also lets users pre-heat their homes in transit, greet visitors while shopping for groceries, or turn off a light that was accidentally left on.

The NFC tiles help users get the most out of their smart homes and skip those unpleasant screaming matches with uncomprehending digital assistants.

Why the PonPon Tile 2.0 are an Ideal Addition to the Smart Home Ecosystem

With over 26 million units sold worldwide, Xiaomi ranked as the world’s fourth best-selling smartphone manufacturer in Q2 2020. The Chinese company reached that milestone because it sells reasonably priced Android-based handsets with impressive new features, like its newly unveiled under-display cameras.

The firm has leveraged wireless technology expertise to become an innovator in the smart home field. Today, the corporation sells a range of connected products, including robot vacuum cleaners, semi-autonomous curtains, and remote control clothing sanitizers. With each new product it introduces, Xiaomi makes smartphone living more comfortable.

By teaming with NXP, the manufacturer also made its lineup more accessible.

At present, the Dutch semiconductor company makes most of its money crafting cutting-edge automotive products. But the chipmaker has recently partnered with corporations in other sectors to acquire expertise in new areas. The chipmaker teamed with Rakuten Mobile to optimize the latter’s Japanese 5G service. It is also developing ultra-wideband, hands-free marketing and transaction solutions with Sony.

The PonPon Tile 2.0 stickers are a quality addition to Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem because they reflect the ingenuity of two leading technology firms.
