Pornhub wants to save the world with its charity.

Best known for its popularity among “stressed-out people,” video streaming service Pornhub just launched a new charity drive. On Tuesday, the firm announced it has partnered with waste management service Ocean Polymers to clean up the world’s beaches in the most explicitly sexual way possible. Consequently, the nation’s oblivious businessman, bored stepmoms, and chinstrap beard enthusiasts can help clean up the environment from the privacy of their homes.

Getting Dirty to Cleanup

The World Ocean Network states 6.5 million tons of litter are dumped into the oceans every year. Moreover, the organization notes 50 percent of that trash is comprised of non-biodegradable plastics like water and hand lotion bottles. As a result, aquatic life is dying, and the seas are becoming filled with chemicals that are harmful to human beings.

Ocean Polymers has made it its mission to address that problem by cleaning up Earth’s waterways. The organization wants to convert a supertanker that will trawl the oceans to collect errant plastics. However, saving the world is expensive work, and the firm is using a combination of corporate partnerships and crowd-funding to finance its work. Bizarrely enough, that’s where Pornhub comes in.

The streaming service has produced a video called “The Dirtiest Porn Ever” (yup, we’ll let you google that from the safety of your own incognito browser). The clip both highlights the devastation single-use plastics have wrought and the remarkable flexibility of people in their twenties. For each view the clip gets, the company will make a donation to Ocean Polymers. As of this writing, the video has received more than 1.5 million plays from committed environmentalists the world over (ahem…add one more to that number).

Those looking for a very satisfying way to contribute to a good cause should give the clip a look. Then, after a few hours and some hydration and stretching, give it a second look.

Pornhub Gives Back

Despite its somewhat unseemly image, Pornhub has quite the altruistic streak. The company has a philanthropic segment, called Pornhub Cares, that contributes to a host of worthy causes. In April, the firm launched a campaign called “Beesexual,” and it centered on protecting the world’s imperiled bee population.

The platform demonstrated its commitment to the environment in 2014 with the “Pornhub Give America Wood” initiative. The Arbor Day-themed campaign asked the public to watch clips from its…well-endowed gentlemen category. In exchange, the organization planted one tree for every 100 videos watched. With help from still lonely, bored, and civic-minded people across the globe, the firm planted more than 15,473 trees.

Besides, the company gives struggling college students a helping hand by maintaining a scholarship initiative. Through the program, Pornhub gives a postsecondary student $25,000 to pursue their academic dreams. Moreover, the firm has helped countless undergrads work through their breakups with their diverse and creative offerings.

Pornhub Cares even gifted a disadvantaged superfan with a brand-new 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. Now, the cynical among us would say that the streaming service only engages in charitable initiatives to bolster its image. Indeed, as Twitter co-founder Biz Stone once remarked, “the future of marketing is philanthropy.”

Regardless of its motives, Pornhub’s humanitarian activities do have the effect of making the world a slightly better place. Plus, as far as publicity stunts go, cleaning up the oceans with porn is amusingly absurd. However, with this particular campaign, it’s imperative that participants not give at the office.
